A Glance back at 2010

Well, whether we like it or not, 2010 has come and gone.  We have one more day to soak in 2010.  So far, out of my 22 years of life, 2010 has been my best year!  Here's a look back on the most exciting/important/fun times of my year:

At the beginning of 2010, I took a trip down to Athens, Georgia to see if I'd want to go to grad school there.
We went with our dear friends, Molly and Justin who also got engaged this year in July!!  This trip is what solidified my decision to go to UGA.  Shortly after, I got my acceptance letter!

Sometime near the end of January, we were snowed in our apartment from a HORRIBLE blizzard.  We decided to have a glass of wine, and soak our feet in the tub with a homemade lemon/parsley foot scrub. ha! Not sure if it really worked, but it was fun!!! Notice the romantic candle and flowers sitting on the toilet.

In March, my friends threw me a shower for my wedding.  It was so much fun, and I truly have the best friends EVER.

I can't remember the occasion for this photo, but all I know is my last year of college was spent with the best gals and we sure had lots of fun.

In April, my bestie Sarah got married! She had a beautiful wedding and they are still living happily ever after! I wish we lived closer, because we've been apart for toooo long!

In May, I graduated college!!! It was such a fun day, and I am actually really sad that I'm still not in college.  Those were the days.

Three weeks later, Seth and I got married!!  It was the best day of my life, no doubt.

Then, we honeymooned on the beautiful beaches of Mexico for a week. I have never eaten so much in my life! It was so yummy and relaxing. I wanna go back!

When we returned from our honeymoon, my wonderful sister-in-law got us a dog for our wedding present! Penny girl is the sweetest pup ever, but poor thing, she's terrified of ceiling fans. (Or anything on the ceiling for that matter)

Then we traveled to Fayetteville to attend our friends, Eric and Sally's, wedding. It was so much fun! I can't wait until I get to see them tonight at our new years party-we haven't seen each other since August!

The next month, we traveled to Charlotte and attended Allen and Alli's wedding. It was a party, that's for sure! :)  I am so glad we live so close together-we spend almost every weekend together!
Two weeks later, I surprised all my friends by driving to Surfside Beach to spend a girls weekend together before Rachel left for Central Asia and Molly had just gotten engaged a few days before!
The end of July, right before I was supposed to start grad school in Athens, I decided to take a job with The Charmed Event.  The two lovely ladies on the left are the owners and I am so glad I took it! It's my dream job really, and I can't wait until I get to plan weddings full time!

So then we packed up our things in Athens and moved BACK to NC!  THANKS Logan for helping us move!
Sometimes I don't really understand why people get certain blessings, but all I know is that I am so thankful for our landlord and the blessings she has given us! We are renting this beautiful home on Lake Norman and want to use it to bless others too!

Thanksgiving was spent with Seth's family.  Aren't we cute?
I also had to opportunity to go to to LA with my friends Allen and Alli to watch her be on Wheel of Fortune! It was a blast and we saw the governor and terminator, Arnold Schwartzenegger!
Before heading to Texas for Christmas with my family, we had Christmas with Seth's at our home.  I love them so much.
While in Texas, I got to meet my beautiful cousin, Kie.  Is he not the sweetest baby boy in the world?

Christmas in Tyler with mom's side of the family is never dull.  We ate Mexican food for lunch and then opened presents at my Aunt Deena's house.
Seth and my first married Christmas together! Can't wait to spend every Christmas with him until we are old.

As you can see, I've had a great year!! I am excited for what 2011 holds, but I doubt it'll be better than this one! ;)

Happy New Year everyone! I must go now and clean clean clean for our new years party tonight!!!!

Christmas

Wow. We've had an eventful last few days...and I have lots of photos to share!!

First off all, I will start telling about our trip to Texas backwards..

We got back from our 18 hours straight through drive this morning at like 7am.  We were both miserable because we hadn't slept in so long and to make matters way worse I got sick...like throw up sick.  NOT FUN in the car.  Thank goodness I had a walmart sack, otherwise it would have been way worse than it already was.

Seth was a champ and drove 13 out of the 18 hours-he's the best.  And we had two cats and a dog in the car (with one cat freely roaming around) the whole time. haha.

Around 7am this morning, we pulled up to our home.  It was so good to be home-except we set our air on 53 before leaving, so the house was FREEEEEZZIINNNGG.  We threw like four blankets on our bed and hit the sack.  We got up around 2pm this afternoon and now we're about to go to the store to get some cocktails and food for our new years party tomorrow!!!!  I'm so excited, i can't wait!!

But overall, we had a great time in Texas.  We got to see a whole lot of family, and it was always a fun time.  Enjoy the pics from our first married Christmas!

This is my younger brother, Grant. He  LOVES hunting and is always shooting squirrels or deer.  Don't you worry though, our family always eats them. He doesn't just kill them for the fun of it...
I picked it up to examine it and it bled on me.  ICK!
We also got to shoot skeet behind my dad's house and it was lots of fun. Seth loved shooting all the different guns!

This my my good ol' cousin bobby.
These are my sweet cats in Texas... well the striped one doesn't look so sweet. He's becoming a grumpy old grouch.

Our first Christmas married! :)

In case you're wondering, those are left handed scissors! As much crafting as I do, I am always complaining about how I can't use the scissors with my left hand, so I'm so glad I got some!

We then went to my mom's house and also got lots of goodies!
My mom got a macbook air!!

We had a great time in Texas (minus the getting sick part)...

I am still feeling somewhat weak from getting sick this morning so I am going to bed!!

Tomorrow before our new years party I am going to post my 2010 year in review!

Goodnight!

20 December 2010

On our way!

Well...we're leaving in just a few hours!

I'm still in my pajamas.
Still need to run to Target from some on-the-road snacks
Haven't packed the car
Why is it that our loot doubles in the blink of an eye?  I'm somewhat worried that it won't all fit in our car...
ALONG with a pup and two cats.  AND two humans...

This should be an interesting 16 hours...

I am excited to spend some great time with family, do some skeet shooting, and celebrate Christmas in Texas! It's been almost a YEAR since I've been there.

Catch ya later!

Santa came early to our house!

That's right, we were extra good this year so Santa decided to come early!

Well..that may not be completely true, but it sounded good at least.

We celebrated Christmas at our house yesterday with Seth's family because we will be in Texas for the actual Christmas day.  Seth's mom, dad and sister came over and brought lots of goodies!  I'm so excited for the gifts I received that I'm so glad they all liked what Seth and I gave them.

Here are a couple of my favorite items that I got yesterday:

1.  Luxery Plush foot duvet's...fancy name, huh?  They are seriously the most soft and warm slippers I've ever put my foot into.  Seriously. Go get yourself a pair, but you gotta wait until they are in stock.  They're all sold out right now!  You can find them here.

2. Tory Burch sunglasses.  Oh man, am I excited for these.  My expensive pair of Ray Ban's got taken at a Braves game this past summer and I've been stuck with $10 dollar Target sunglasses since then.  Not that there is anything wrong with an inexpensive pair of sunglasses, but I really LOVED my polarized lenses.  And now I have them again, except better and more stylish than my last pair! I'm thinking about slowly saving up for a pair of TB flats...we'll see.

I also got a personalized chip and dip platter to match the colors of my kitchen and with my initial in the dip holder!!! Logan painted it for me!  I love it.

I am truly blessed to have such wonderful, loving in-laws who treat me like their own daughter.  A lot of people can't say that about theirs. I even have friends who cringe when they mention theirs...so I am extremely lucky.

Here are a few photos from our time together:

 She's a momma's girl.

They just celebrated their 25 year anniversary!
We just celebrated our 1/2 year anniversary!

Seth got some great loot as well..his favorites were a ball hopper (if you don't know what that is, just google it) for when he plays tennis, Rockband 3 with the new keyboard, and a couple tennis shirts..yeah...no surprise there..he got lots of tennis related things.  Including a jumbo pack of tournagrip.

We had a great time..now the next thing on our list:  TEXAS!
We are leaving tomorrow after Seth gets off work to drive to Texas.  Should be fun with two cats and a dog all in the same car. ha!  More like a zoo..

Well I'm thinking it's time for a Sunday nap.  Those are the best..

Ta ta!

Then Sings My Soul Book Review

I just finished reading the book Then Sings My Soul by Robert J. Morgan.  Have y'all ever sang a hymn in church and wondered about the story behind the hymn? If so, this book is definately for you. I grew up singing hymns and so when I saw this book, I knew I had to get it.

The contents of the book is awesome. It is divided into Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Patriotic, and other favorites. I definately turned right to the Christmas section first.  Something even better about this book is that it also has the written music to accompany it! I played a little piano long, long ago, but I'm pretty sure I can play all these songs if I got my hands on a piano. This book would be great to sing hymns as a family, or even use as a small devotional to learn about the background of songs that are so important to a Christian (or more traditional Christian).  The pages look rustic and worn which is really neat since it contains so much history and I absolutely would reccomend this book to anyone! It also has the year that each song was written and I am thinking about typing up some Christmas hymns along with their history as little Christmas gifts.   Great book for those history lovers out there!

There are so many well known songs such as "Joy to the world" "Jesus paid it all" "Great is thy faithfulnes" "The Star Spangled Banner" and "Amazing Grace".  So not only does it have hymns, but also lots of other song such as "My Country 'Tis of thee" and "America, the beautiful".

What I'm loving Wednesday

Goodness, Christmas is sure sneaking up on me!! I can't believe it's next week!!

I've had a pretty cruddy day, so I am glad to have this to lift my spirits. I know that even if I do have a bad day, there is always something to be grateful for. Thank you, Jesus, for reminding me of that.

1. I'm loving that I got an early Christmas present from hubby:

Y'all. That is a 5 gallon bucket of Chick-fil-a pickles. If you know me, you know i LOVEEEEE pickles.  Especially ones from CFA.  I was SOOO excited when he lugged this huge bucket in from his jeep.  I'm sure some of you are wanting to throw up right now, but I am so excited.  Now, when I got to CFA, I don't have to ask for extra pickles, I can just bring my own! ;)

2. I'm loving that we are trekking to Texas on Monday.  I haven't seen a lot of my family since our wedding (and that's been over 6 months ago) and so I cannot wait to spend the holidays with them.  Also, I get to meet sweet Baby Kie!!

3. I'm loving our new kitten, Claire.  We started out by fostering her, and of course fell in love. She is the sweetest little thing. She purrs when we even walk in the room...you don't even have to touch her! So that's half of our present to each other is her.  And it was a good choice, if you ask me. We love her to death and Huey does too. They play all day long.  So cute.

4. I'm loving that this weekend we are having Seth's family over for Christmas. Since we'll be in Texas for the actual day, they are coming over to celebrate and exchange gifts with us. I am excited to give them our gifts. I think they are going to love them.  Seth has to work on Saturday so that's why they are coming to us..otherwise we would have loved to go to their house, but that's okay! I love hosting people in our wonderful home...

5. I'm loving these shoes...I am thinking I may actually start saving up some money for a pair..I've NEVER spent that much on a pair of shoes, but they are so cute and would look lovely with my new Tory Burch sunglasses that I'm getting for Christmas... :)  I especially love the cheetah print ones.

Well, I am wrapping up a few more Christmas goodies, and then off to bed! Tomorrow will be spent cleaning up, doing a tiny bit more last minute shopping, and spending the afternoon with my wonderful husband! My friend, Alli teaches high school theatre and her production is tomorrow night, so we're heading over to that in the evening.

Happy Wednesday!
