A name...

Choosing a name for this precious baby boy in my belly definitely gave me some gray hairs.  Though, I'm not gonna lie, we had his name "picked out" before we even knew he was a boy. But I was just goofy and tried to think of others that I liked just as well.

A week or two before our gender reveal, I suddenly thought that this little peanut might be a boy (I could have bet $1000 it was going to be a girl)  and I freaked out a little.

I already had a girl name picked out, but a boy name?  We had like 3 or 4 that we liked.  I thought the minute we knew "boy" or "girl", we would have a name...  nope.  Didn't happen.

Well, we both decided that his name would be ________ and then I told a few friends and they were like "hmmmmm" which made me a little apprehensive.  I know it doesn't really matter what others think of baby names, and if you love it, then that's all that matters, but I still started second guessing our choice.

A few more weeks went by, and I told a few more people the choices we had narrowed it down to and they, of course, said "Oh I like ____" or "I don't like ____" .  Some of them liked his name, some did not..

And then I decided not to give a damn. Ha!

I woke up one morning and said to myself "You know what?  This is MY child, and I LOVE this name.  If others don't like it, then that's their problem."  I had been so worried about whether or not people liked it, that I second guessed my choice..  Hubby, on the other hand, always had a "I don't give a dang" attitude and was relieved when I told him I (finally) felt the same way.

SO...

his name?

Yes, let's get to it.

Our little babe's name will be...

WINSLOW

His middle name is a family name and for privacy purposes, won't be sharing it juse because there are creepy people out here in cyberspace, but we love it too.  It's been in the family for a long time, and it makes him extra special.

We wanted a name that was NOT common, and that was classic and unique.  It's a name that sounds adorable when he is 3 and also sounds sophisticated when he is 93.

I hope you like it, Baby Winslow! (You don't really have a choice!)    ;)

We love you and CANNOT wait to meet you in just three months!

 Xoxo,

Kait

Spring is here.

This post will not have much writing...just photos.  I spent the weekend planting flowers, fixing up the yard, and getting the deck ready for entertaining.  Enjoy!

This pup was with me wherever I went.
Hubby and papa building my raised garden boxes. I cannot wait to plant lots of great veggies soon!
Last night we used our new grill for the first time.  It was DELICIOUS! I love grilling out.
We are going to get a patio set soon, and we are going to power wash and treat the deck. It needs it badly, as you can tell.

When we moved in, there was NO grass at all back here...at least there is some now, even if it is patchy, right?
My garden boxes waiting to be filled!
Lettuce

Yes I repainted my front door...for the third time. Ha!

Herbs (chives, parsley, cilantro, and basil!)
 Fire pit

I love Spring!

Installing a beadboard backsplash.

When we moved into our home in September, a kitchen backsplash was on my long list of DIY projects.  After I got over the horrible morning sickness around 15 weeks, I've been dying to install a backsplash in our kitchen.  I couldn't decide if I wanted to do tile, beadboard or something else.  We finally decided to do beadboard and I am VERY happy with the result.  It only took a couple hours to install it (we don't have a huge area that needed done) and I love it!

I'll explain a little about what we did and hopefully you'll get the encouragement to just do it if you're on the fence about installing beadboard.

We purchased one panel of beadboard from Lowe's for around 19 dollars.  You can find it here.  That's all we needed!  Just one panel.

We of course measured and measured and then cut out the pieces that we needed with a jigsaw.  It's very easy to cut. We just glued it to the wall with liquid nails and let me tel you, that sucker is not going anywhere!  We caulked around the edges, and then I painted over it with a fresh coat of white paint.  It's really that easy!  I was going to trim out the edges, but couldn't find any trim that fit just right, so I just caulked it before I painted, and I think it looks great.

This is what our kitchen looked like when we moved in:

After a little decorating, and some paint, this is what it looked like a month after we moved in:

It's doesn't look like a HUGE change in the photos, but in person it looks so much brighter and open.  Plus it matches the island/bar bead board that was already in the house when we moved.

Yep, I love it.  And all for around $30...i'll take it! (Beadboard was $20, paint and glue was probably around ten, although I already had both here at home)

Onto the next project! Honey, are you ready?!?

Xoxo,

Kait

22 Weeks

how far along? 22 Weeks
how are you measuring? Right on schedule
size of baby? A papaya!
heartbeat? 154 bpm
total weight gain/loss? Gained five pounds from my last appointment!  FINALLY gaining weight- however, I did have to pee REALLY bad, and I had on pretty heavy shoes...so maybe that counts for a pound..?  My home scale says I've only gained 3 pounds..
maternity clothes? Oh yes!
stretch marks? No
sleep? I've been sleeping pretty well. I still miss sleeping on my stomach, but I've gotten used to it.
best moment this week?  I spent ALL day Saturday and today planting flowers and fixing up our yard.  I spent like two hours buying flowers at the Farmer's Market.  I will post soon what our yard is like now.  I have peonies, jasmine vines, rose bushes, a gardenia bush.. I am proud! :)
movement? All day long. I LOVE IT!
food cravings? Thankfully my sour candy obsession is gone.  I know my dentist is going to HATE me when I have my check up. I still eat a bagel every morning for breakfast and I still want Subway every day.
gender predictions? A boy! I was going to share names a while ago, but we have gone back and forth on if that will be it, so we're waiting a little while longer to let it sit and see if we still like it.
what i miss: Sleeping on my stomach, turkey sandwiches, and I got a small craving for sushi last week...
what i'm looking forward to: Painting the nursery (Honey, get on it!)
how are you feeling? Feeling great! Pregnancy is awesome- I am loving it.

Our Babymoon

Last week, we traveled to South Florida for 5 days.  It was AWESOME.  In case you didn't know, my husband is OBSESSED with tennis and so we bought tickets for the Sony Open that is held in Key Biscayne (an island off of Miami) .  We had all day tickets for two days and to be honest, I was a little hesitant to watch that much tennis.

I am glad to report that I had a blast and I know hubby was on Cloud 9 the entire time. We saw so many great matches, including Richard Gasquet (#10 in the world), Novak Djokovic (#1 in the world), Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, and a handful of other great players.  It was so cool to see them play in person. Way better than on TV.

We spent a day north of Fort Lauderdale, in a small town called Lauderdale by the Sea.  It was such a quaint and relaxed town.  No spring breakers, just families (which we liked) and awesome dining. We ate lunch in a cafe right on the beach and I had the BEST coconut shrimp in my life.  It was seriously divine.

The weather was around 90 with a nice breeze (hello perfect!)  And we spent a good several hours on the beach and in the ocean.

Here he is with his favorite player, Richard Gasquet.  He was beside himself when Richard agreed to take his picture with him.

 Bump on the beach. :)

 South Beach, Miami
He was digging a hole for my stomach so I could lay down. Hehe...how sweet, right?

One evening, we drove down to South Beach to window shop (We went to Dash and a few other places) and we also ate some Authentic Cuban food...

Let's just say I was not a fan.  Hubby loved it though.

We had a great time, and it was an awesome last trip before Baby Jones makes his appearance!

We got back Friday and had a wonderful Easter lunch with my in-laws on Sunday.  Here's a few photos I snapped of our "babies"

My golden girl.

My sis-in-laws, dachshund, Sadie. Adorable or what?

We had a 22 week doc appt today and everything looked great. We got to hear the heartbeat and doc said I was measuring right on schedule!

I also found a groupon for a 3d ultrasound for $35 that I cannot wait to use next month.  I can't wait to see our little one's face!

Happy Hump Day!
