That day the sun came out.

Y'all.

This past weekend was glorious in more ways than one.

The weather was beautiful.
Winslow slept through the night 7pm-7am Saturday and Sunday night!
We ate Chipotle for lunch.
Winslow slept through the night.
We ventured out to the Raleigh flea market.
Winslow slept through the night.

It was pretty darn great.

Here's proof:

Too bad the old people at work are saying it'll snow this week..WHAT?!  (And we all know old people watch the weather 8 hours a day).

20 February 2014

Winslow is SIX months!

Weight: 19 pounds 4 ounces

Height: This is where it gets funny...for his 5 months update, I said he was 28.25 inches.  That's because I measured him myself and I was obviously wrong because today they measured him at 28 inches even.  The nurse still couldn't get him to straighten his legs out without him squirming like a worm, so who knows how tall he REALLY is!  Let's just say 28 inches.

Nicknames: W, Win, Monkey, Little Fella

Eating: HE HAS TEETH PEOPLE! TWO OF THEM! anyway, he Nurses every 3-4 hours with one feeding at night (around 3-4 am).  We started solids a couple weeks ago and he loves sweet potatoes and avacado! Doesn't love apples...we do one small meal around lunchtime and if he's not interested, I don't push it...he will let me know when he's ready.  We probably eat solids 3-4 times a week.  I'm hoping to knock out that early AM feeding sometime soon...I would love to get more than 5 hours of sleep at once! (That would also help if my hard headed body would get in bed before 10:30-11 at night.)

Sleeping: Sleeping in his crib from 7pm-3 or 4 am and then acts like he's hungry as a goon.  That silly boy.  He'll then go back to sleep until 7 or 7:30.  He usually ends up in bed with me for an hour or so...I love snuggling with him. :)  He still naps three times a day and I don't see that changing anytime soon since his naps are not that long.  He's happy so I'm not gonna try to cut on out or anything.

Diapers: Cloth is the bomb dot com.  I'm obsessed...minimal blow outs, and no stink like disposables.

Clothing: 9 month and some 12 month outfits..I'm trying to squeeze him into 6 months clothes because I need to go find some bigger stuff for the little man.  ;)

Social: Smiling at everyone and he can also put his arms out to go to you if you clap at him to come to you.  It's the most PRECIOUS thing in the world.  He is also scared of face he doesn't know and he'll whimper a few times but when he sees me, he will settle down.  This boy is always squealing and talking too.  He is also making a lot of different sounds now with his mouth..they almost sound like words.  Still no real words yet, but he loves to scream at the top of his lungs.

Likes: Being tickled on his ribs, kisses under his neck,  bathtime, rolling around everywhere, pounding toys on the table, squishing Darla's head, standing up with assistance, chewing on his feet and hands and anything else he can get into his mouth, pulling momma's hair, Sophie the Giraffe.

Dislikes: changing clothes, getting out of the bath, sometimes naps

What we're looking forward to:  A 6 month photoshoot/ family photoshoot is coming soon, lots of our friends are coming to visit us from Charlotte and staying here, and my mom is paying us a visit in a couple weeks.

 YIPEE!!

Milestones/ things to remember: He has TWO teeth on the bottom front.  They are about halfway done growing.  He can sit up by himself for a while now.  Started food on 2.1.14- oatmeal.

We love you so much, Winslow!! You have so much personality and we cannot wait to watch you grow!

Look how big you've gotten!

Snowed in. again.

We have been snowed in for going on three days now. In a matter of an hour, we got like two inches of snow and it didn't stop there. Before it was all said and done, I think around 6 inches of snow and then lots of sleet and ice occurred. We've been cuddled up in the house but I'm not complaining.
More snuggles with my little man!

I took that opportunity to get out my nice camera and snap some photos. I never get it out much because for one, one of my lenses is broken and my iPhone is so much more convenient. But I am researching new cameras and hopefully will have my hands on one soon. The one I have now has served me well and it's almost 8 years old!

It's such a joy to be his momma.  Every night when he goes to bed, I go upstairs and just stare at his little sleeping body.  I love to smell his baby scent, and touch his little head of soft little fuzzy hair.  He's the best.  I love him so.

Yes, his diaper has hearts on it, but it's blue. So it's not girly. Boom.
Always chewing on those hands.
Sweet little baby feet make my smile.

Hubby took some candid photos of us.  I pretty much love them.

I'm kissing his little feet..not really sniffing them like it looks..but even if I were..who cares.  Every part of his little body smells like baby scent..and we all know that's the best smell on the planet.

Gosh, these boys melt my heart.

Dear Winslow

Dear Winslow,

You have been changing so much recently I'm not even sure I know what's going on!  It's like you woke up, decided to sit up on your own (you're ALMOST there), get two bottom teeth (they are poking through a tiny iny bit) and decided that playing in your exersaucer is so much fun.  It's so crazy to see how much you take in when you just look around.  It's like you are growing into such a little boy and you're no longer the baby that we came home with.  You are so good at looking at us when we say your name and  you always let us know when you don't like something.

You are so full of energy it amazes me.  Naptimes are short, but you are never grumpy when you're awake.  My favorite moments of the day are when you wake up and right before you go to bed.  When you get up in the morning, you give me the biggest smile in the world.  You'll squeal and talk and smile all morning.  Then it's naptime and sometimes you like it and sometimes you don't.

You're kind of like your momma.

When it's time to go to bed, I've been taking a bath with you in the big bathtub.  Seeing your little face light up when you splash in the water brings me so much joy.  I will move your little chunky baby legs up and down the bathtub and you'll just smile and take it all in.  You love it so much.  You DON'T love when bathtime is over though.  You'll throw a little hissy fit now.  It's cute because sometimes when you cry, you're putting on a show..momma can tell.

You sleep on your tummy now that you can roll over.  When I put you in your crib, you'll talk to yourself for like .2 seconds, roll over on your belly, and you're out.  It's the cutest thing in the world when I go check on you and your little booty is in the air.

I even take a picture of you because one day, I'm going to blink and you'll be 18 years old.  What?

I love you so much, dear boy.

We started babyfood last week too.  You gobbled it up like you were starving (even though you ate like 5 minutes before that)  I think it's safe to say, you're gonna have a big appetite and eat an ENTIRE box of cereal for dinner like my brothers used to do.  We are going to start with some sweet potatoes or avacado this weekend.  It's  fun to see how much you are exploring and growing every single day.

The squeals and screams that you do remind me of myself.  If you talk to LaLa,  she will be the FIRST to tell you  I was a LOUD child.  I think you may take after me in that aspect.  You love to exercise your lungs...but you're never mad! I can count on one hand the amount of times you've been REALLY upset since you've been born.

You are SUCH a joy, little one.

I hope I never forget the smell of your sweet little baby fuzz head.  I hope I never forget the grunting sound you make right before you go to bed.  Or that you love pounding your toys with your right hand, but not your left.  Or that you get mad at me when I try to feel of your little two teeth in your mouth.  Oh man, I could go on and on how perfect God made you.  I am so lucky to be your momma.

The way you hold my hand when you nurse.  Or the way you love to stand up and those little thunder thighs with all the dimples and rolls are just asking to be pinched or squished.  Or when I blow air on them, you squeal with delight.

You love when daddy kisses you under the neck, you get the biggest smile and you laugh pretty loud.  I still think you're a lazy laugher though, because we haven't gotten but one or two huge belly laughs.  It'll come though, it'll come.  We just aren't funny enough.

I love you so much, Winslow Jones.  I never want you to grow up.  Just when I think I can't ever love you any more, I do.  It's like God gives me a tiny bit more of love each day I wake up.  It's incredible.

You are loved. You are loved.

-Your momma

04 February 2014

A peek into our week.

Just some photos of the past few days.

My brother flew in from Texas to come visit me! Ha, yeah right.  He actually flew in to visit his girlfriend, but they did stop by and spend the evening with us!  We had such a wonderful time meeting Alex and getting to catch up.  Of course, Winslow stole the show, but I didn't mind at all.
If this doesn't melt you into a puddle, I don't know what will.  Whenever we had our gender reveal party last year, my MIL and FIL gave us these adorable baby boots.  Also, hubby got these boots from my dad for Christmas...they happen to match perfectly.  Photohoot anyone?

This boy has a new found love for his puppy.  And it's the sweetest thing ever.

Look at that deathgrip.  Poor Darla.
I can't help but take a picture of him sleeping.  He is perfection.   I'm so lucky to be his momma.
Before I could even blink, this little man was sitting up so well!  He's still wobbly but he is doing so great.  I love him so.

I really really do.

He's growing up.

This past weekend was a big weekend for us! Winslow had his first taste of "food!"  I was sooo sad and happy at the same time because I am excited to introduce so many yummy things to him, but sad because he no longer depends on his mommy 100% for nourishment.  We started with something really "bland" just to test his readiness and boy was he ready.  He ate it all, didn't spit it out or gag at all, and he loved it!

We started him on baby oatmeal mixed with mommy's milk with a dash of cinnamon.

Look at my cutie pie!  (Yes the tag is still attached to the highchair. I wasn't sure that I liked it yet, but of course,  I am keeping it now that we've used it.)

I can't believe he is growing up SOOOO fast!  It's such a bittersweet thing, growing a child.  One second you are so stinkin' happy he's sitting up, or starting to crawl, or eating food, and the next second you are crying because you have no idea where the past 6 months went!?

Sheesh.

I guess I'll just have to keep having babies forever, right?  ;)  (Mom, don't answer that)

(And we haven't fed him anymore food since the weekend because I am working full time this week (UGH) and I wanted to be home more of the day so I could watch him for allergies)

Moving on to apples this weekend!
