Our Gallery Wall!

Today I am so excited to share my gallery wall!  I had one in my rental house (go see it here!) and in our new home, I did one going up the stairs.  Gallery walls are so easy to do, and it makes such a statement in a home.  I love going up the stairs and just looking at each photo. :)

I didn't measure, cut out paper to match the frame, or do too much planning-All I did was lay it out on the floor first how I wanted it, and then nailed away!

Here's the result, and I love it.

What do you think?  Do you have a gallery wall in your home?

DIY Roman Shades

I've decided that Pinterest is a necessity if you are planning a wedding or if you just bought a house.

Am I right?

Where was Pinterest when I got married?

But since we close on our home earlier this month, I've gotten so many great ideas for DIY projects.
One of them is some roman shades I just made for our dining room.

Take a look:

These are taken with my iphone so the quality is not awesome..but you get the idea. :) If I could do it over though, I would have widened the sides a little to cover more of the door and not just the window but that's as wide as the fabric  was that I bought.

I am so happy with the outcome though.

Want to make some yourself?

  I  used this tutorial.

Happy Wednesday!

More DIY projects coming soon and a pumpkin recipe!

Scenes from the weekend...

Good afternoon, friends!

I am currently on my lunch break at work (I LOVE being able to come home during my lunch) and so I wanted to give y'all a little update on what the Jones' have been up to!

While my mom and stepdad were in town last week, I put them both to work on the millions of projects I have for our new house.  Now before I give the big reveal, I'll show a few pictures of the progress.

We went to Lowe's to pick up some wood for some shelves I wanted him to make in the laundry room and the half bath.

Our laundry room was converted from a pantry and so there is not much room at all.  For a pantry, yes it's spacious, but for laundry..not so much.  I don't mind it though, because the previous homeowners made the old laundry room into a mudroom..I'll share those pictures SOON!
There is a small "nook" where he added the shelves.  I LOVE them and they hold all of my detergent, cleaning supplies, and other stuff.
And here's the progress in our half bath.  I just finished painting it yesterday so i'll share paint colors, and the final room once I take photos!

This past weekend, I worked on more house projects (I LOVE IT!)  and the weather was so nice, I opened all the windows. It was glorious. Huey thought so too:

And to celebrate the first day of fall, i wore moccasins, a scarf, and my favorite fall color (besides plum), mustard yellow!

I also lit my favorite fall candle: Autumn from Bath and Body Works, and made pumpkin muffins!
Tonight I am finishing up some DIY roman shades for our dining room and hope to share those tomorrow.

Decorating a house is so much fun!

Happy Monday, ya'll!

Weekend at the beach and a sneak peek!

This past weekend, I traveled to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to meet up with my mom and her husband.  It was so beautiful and the weather was perfect.

I got lots of sun and ate some yummy crab cakes!

After that, we headed back to my house and we're working on some fun projects! I can't wait to share them.

Until then,  here's a sneak peek of our living room!  I am planning to share the full reveal this weekend.  I have a few more projects to complete first-

I got this awesome afghan from Goodwill for $3! I just love the colors and the retro look.

Happy Tuesday, y'all!

And so it begins...

It's time for me to begin the wonderful process of fixing up our first home!  Although it was a foreclosure, it was in pretty great condition and only needed a good cleaning throughout.

Two days after we moved in, we went to Lowe's.  Man that place is like a homeowners dream..we spent three hours in there. NO JOKE.  3 hours, and we came out with a cart full!

AND I've already taken an hour long bath in the lovely soaker tub.

AND I've already re-painted the front door (and the living room, but that's for another day!)

I went back and forth on the color for the front door. I love a traditional red front door because it's so welcoming but I also wanted something different.

SO...what color did I choose?

Sherwin Williams Holiday Turquoise!  I LOVE the color  (they no longer have it on the floor, but you can ask for it and they'll mix it for you).

Introducing our front door:

I am really happy with the way it turned out.  It's definitely untraditional and fun!  I think it's a great color and the good thing is, if I do get tired of it, it's such an easy change. I literaly painted our front door before work one day. It took like fifteen minutes!

The door beforehand was actually a faded red/orange color...it looks a lot brighter than it was.

What do you think??  It's welcoming and unique at the same time.  Here's what it looks like from the road:

Hope y'all have a great Monday!

P.S. In case you're wondering, the doormat is from Ross for $6.50!

Out sweet Penny girl...

So friends, we moved in last weekend to our FIRST home and we are loving it!! I have already painted the front door, started on our bedroom and got a long list of projects for our new home! I am so excited.

Our move was such a bittersweet time though. We had to say goodbye to our precious golden retriever, Penny.

Her eating habits had changed about a week before we moved and she would go through times where she would eat and them times where she would not eat. Well we got really worried about her when she started getting weaker and weaker. She was twelve, which is the average lifespan for a golden so we knew that her time could be any day.

Well we took her to the ER, and she was diagnosed with very aggressive leukemia. She had only 3-6 weeks to live at most, IF she had a blood transfusion and chemotherapy once a week.

We then had to make the hardest decision of our marriage; to put her down so she would no longer suffer.

It's hard losing a pet, y'all. She was our baby. She would go to the grocery store with me, go garage selling on the weekends, she went to the beach with us, to Texas (20 hrs in the car!) I mean she went everywhere!

We miss her so much.

On a lighter note, I plan to have a whole slew of projects in the upcoming weeks! The first one is out front door makeover! I painted my front door a really fun color and can't wait to share it!

Hopefully we will have Internet at our home soon!

Happy Wednesday!
