Finally, a tutorial for you guys! I've pulled my hair out a zillion time trying to get this up and my pictures wouldn't load, the dog needed walking, the sun went down..blah blah blah.
But here it is!
DIY picture frame pedistal
Here's what you'll need:
-Gorilla glue
-picture frame (I got mine from Goodwill for .99 cents each)
-brass candlestick
-spraypaint
1. Dab a little bit of gorilla glue onto your candlestick. It doesn't take a whole lot because it'll expand when it dries.
2. Set the picture frame on top and make sure the frame is flushed with the front of the candlestick. The frames I bought were skinnier than the width of the candlestick and so it'll look like this on the backside. It may bother some of you because it looks kind of funky, but to me that side will never be seen so I didn't mind!
3. Go do some laundry, make some spaghetti, use the bathroom...whatever suits your fancy.
BE SURE TO LET IT DRY FOR A COUPLE HOURS.
I got excited and messed with it after about 30 minutes and what happened? It wasn't dry and it "broke". So make sure you be patient!
See? That's the backside of the frame and candlestick.
But here is the front...looks perfect!
I couldn't decide if they should be white or black..so I went back and sprayed one black...

I am planning on making some more. This is a super easy way to dress up regular old picture frames! And you can get wild and crazy with the color! I may do a hot pink one to match my hot pink lamp!

ReplyDeleteJust a quick thought - if you were to find two picture frames, there's probably enough room to make them double sided! You'd just never be able to change out the photo in the frame - so it depends on how much you love your photos ;)
