Baby Shower!

This past Sunday, my wonderful mother-in-law, my aunt, and a few college girls hosted a shower for me and Baby Winslow! Oh my goodness, it was so much fun and so beautiful.  It was held at a local bed and breakfast where we live.

Sadly, I didn't appoint anyone to take photos, so I just have a few..but I hope you enjoy!

Dear Winslow

Dear Baby Boy,

I cannot believe that in about six weeks, you'll be here!! We are SOOOOO excited for you to arrive and I have gone into full nesting mode preparing our house for you.  I started washing your little clothes tonight and sorting them into months- it's going to be so much fun dressing you ten times a day!

This week was all about you, baby boy.  We celebrated your arrival with a beautiful baby shower- it was held downtown Clayton at the Morning Glory Inn.  We had cake, chocolate covered strawberries (my favorite!) and played a few games.  All of my friends and family were there and we even took turns singing to you! It was quite a show.  This week I can tell you are still growing! My stomach is getting pretty big!

Every night before I go to sleep, daddy still talks to you.  My favorite is when he first starts off he always says, "Hey Winslow, it's me.  Dad."  It's so sweet.  I know you are going to have daddy wrapped around your finger, as well as me.  I can't wait until you're here.

Something funny that you do is that when I lay down, you're little booty pokes up on my right side like crazy! My belly gets so lop-sided. You definately love my right side.  I had a few maternity photos taken this past weekend and when I layed down, the photographer even commented on how crooked my belly looked! Haha..you are so funny.

My mom (and your grandmother!) is in visiting- i love having her here. She's helping me fold all your clothes and sewing some things for you! She made you a boppy pillow cover for our nursing sessions when you're here, and she even sewed your curtains in your nursery.  I love them.

I pray for you every single day, sweet boy.  I want you to grow up seeing Jesus' love in our home.  I pray that you'll be kind hearted and that you'll always be a gentleman like your daddy.  He treats me so great.  I love him.

And i love you, sweet boy.  I can't believe how much love I have for you and I haven't even met you yet!  Please stay nice and cozy in my belly for a few more weeks.  Our house is not ready for you just yet.  :)

We love you!

-Mommy

31 Weeks

how far along? 31 Weeks 4 days
how are you measuring?
Right on schedule

size of baby? A pineapple!
heartbeat?
142 bpm
total weight gain/loss?
Well..it's finally happening..the weight is coming and it's not happening slowly! I've gained around 16 pounds
maternity clothes?
Oh yes!
stretch marks?
No, and I am putting Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula on my stomach every night.
sleep?
OH my gosh.  Why did no one tell me about the pregnancy wedge pillow before now?  One of my co-workers recommended I try it, so i marched up to Babies R Us ( proudly parked in the expectant mothers spot), and bought me one.  Best $13 ever spent!  I sleep so much better when I have this.  It goes between your stomach and the bed (like a wedge, duh) and helps your big ol belly not to have so much pressure and helps your back.  i love it.  love love it.
best moment this week?
I've started the nesting phase I think.  I have to have the house clean before I go to bed..which I usually did before I was pregnant, but now it's mandatory. Nesting is fun though! I also did a few house projects, including a new light fixture for our dining room, some open shelving in the kitchen, and re-painting some end tables for the bonus room.  I will share them all sometime soon!
movement? Oh yes!  Sometimes he kicks me so hard it startles me!
food cravings?
Milk, and surprisingly chocolate.  haven't craved that at all until now.
gender predictions?
A boy!
what i miss:
Sleeping on my stomach, turkey sandwiches
, bending over with ease, regular pants
what i'm looking forward to: My friend is having a baby shower (we are due three weeks apart) this weekend and I can't wait to shower her with little girl goodness!
how are you feeling?
Getting larger by the day it seems...I can no longer bend over without hurting.  So that means hubby gets to do laundry! (yay!)  But other than that, just the regular third trimester "My clothes are not fitting right anymore and I am sick of peeing 78 times a day."

DIY headboard

Y'all.

We got a king size bed.  Best decision EVER.  We've been wanting one for a while, but then when my belly started growing, the decision to get one became more important. :)  Also, it'll be good for little baby snuggles too.

We purchased one a couple weeks ago and my mom and stepdad helped me make a headboard for it! I found a tutorial on pinterest (just typed in DIY headboard tutorials) and followed one I found there.

As long as you're willing to spend a few hours building/constructing it, you'll love the outcome and it's going to save you a good amount of money.  Upholstered king sized headboards ain't cheap, y'all.

We used MDF for the headboard, an eggcrate for the stuffing and a drop cloth for the fabric.  The total cost was under $50!

Whatcha think? You like it?  I sure do.

Xoxo,

Kait

Maternity Photos

This past weekend, hubby had his guys over to watch the final of the tennis French Open. (Imagine that) Our friend, Nick, is a great photographer (he took our engagement photos) and so I talked him into snapping a few photos of us. I didn't really want to pay someone to take professional maternity pics because I would rather spend our money on newborn ones when he gets here, so this was a special treat to have Nick take some for us.

I love them and know they will become a special memory for us once Winslow makes his arrival.  Less than 60 days, people!

Thanks again, Nick, for the photos!

Just a few shots around my garden.  It makes me so happy to come home to all God's beauty!

10-20-30

Man...Less than 10 weeks before the arrival of our sweet baby boy. (Hopefully he won't decide to get too cozy and be late).

Look how much he's grown over the past twenty weeks!

I think it's safe to say I will be quite large in ten more weeks...  :) It's all worth it, for you baby Winslow.  Can't wait to meet you soon!

30 Weeks!

{This photo is pretty bad quality...whoops}

how far along? 30 Weeks 4 days
how are you measuring?
Right on schedule

size of baby? A cucumber
heartbeat?
142 bpm
total weight gain/loss?
11 pounds
maternity clothes?
Oh yes!
stretch marks?
No, and I am putting Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula on my stomach every night.
sleep?
haha!  My doctor told me I could take Tylenol PM to help me sleep, which i had no idea I could do, and I took one pill Friday and Saturday night and slept AWESOME.  I want to take them each night, but am a little paranoid to fill my body with medicine since Winslow is living in it. haha
best moment this week?
My mom and her husband showed up at my doorstep Thursday night...they live over 11 hours away, so this was a HUGE surprise! My birthday was Friday so they came to celebrate with me. I almost cried I was so shocked!  Definitely the highlight of my week.

movement? All day long, but mostly at night. All night long.  He slides across my stomach and it feels crazy!
food cravings?
Cold milk, oreos
gender predictions?
A boy!
what i miss:
Sleeping on my stomach, turkey sandwiches

what i'm looking forward to: We are getting a KING sized bed this week.  I can. not. wait.  Between my husband being over 6 feet 5, and me liking to sprawl out in my sleep, a king size bed is a great investment.
how are you feeling?
Feeling good!  Having to pee a lot more..when I feel him sitting on my bladder, I have to go RIGHT THEN.  Ain't no waiting anymore...Climbing stairs and bending over is getting extra hard now though.  Sweet boy also likes to get in my ribs...that's not so fun because I can't breathe but he usually moves within a few hours..after a little pat pat on my stomach.
