7 things.
1. I am getting pretty bad at updating this. I feel like lately I've just been boring. Hopefully I'll get the itch again to write more but during W's naptime, I've been exhausted so I just relax and maybe take a 20 minute nap before knocking out emails/straightening up/prepping for dinner.
2. This next week has lot of fun in store! Our 5 year anniversary is coming up, as well as my birthday! We are making a trip down to Key West for the weekend to see my mom and stepdad and so we plan on being beach bums while the grandparents chase after the little man.
3. Florida life is sweet. I love it here. We are getting involved in our church and making friends which is such an answered prayer. Being at home all day gets lonely so I am glad to make some new mommy friends. Oh yeah, and the weather...besides it being over 80 at 7am, i do not miss cold weather. I haven't worn jeans since moving here really and we make a trip to the beach every single weekend. Winslow is becoming quite the surfer baby.
4. I am in the middle of like 7 books. Why can't I read one at a time? Some on my list are: "The Strong Willed Child" by James Dobson, "The Life Changing magic of tidying up" by Marie Kondo, "I will Carry you" by Angie Smith, "The Best Yes" by Lisa TerKeurst.
5. I need to think about potty training this little monkey...but then that means I have to quit buying cute diapers...and that means I have to mop every day from pee not reaching the toilet. Maybe I'll wait a little longer ;)
6. I got a new planner here and it's pretty much amazing. I LOVE it.
7. We are starting the process of looking at houses...and i hate/love it. Why can't one in our price range, with at least 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with a big kitchen and a big yard and a nice laundry room and a bonus room and maybe a nice pool be for sale in this one neighborhood that we want in our price range ? Is that asking too much? #duh

Visits from the grandparents!
This past weekend, we had some lovely visitors come down from North Carolina! My mother and father in law made a trip down. We had an absolute blast and of course, our little monkey got spoiled. rotten. He got new toys, lots of sugar and ice cream, and even stayed up passed his bedtime. And let me say, he LOVES his Grammy and Big Papi. His favorite thing was sitting on the couch and having them read him books. I've decided he will become the next literary scholar. ;)
Don't have too many photos because we were so busy with enjoying each other, we didn't take many!
Some of the highlights from our weekend included: a day at the beach, lots of book reading, ice cream at the Amish Store, shopping for toys, and a date night for mommy and daddy! We already miss you and come back soon!!

Mother's Day
This past weekend was very relaxing and wonderful! We didn't do much, but just enjoyed the weather. Winslow let us sleep in until after 8 on Saturday (praise the LORD!) and we drove around town exploring. Then, we ate at an Amish restaurant where all of the food is from scratch. It was wonderful..especially the chocolate pecan pie.
Being a mom is the hardest yet most rewarding job I've ever had. I love it so much and hope that one day, the Lord will bless me with more children. Yesterday was really awesome and hubby made me feel very special, but I couldn't help but think of the women who struggle with this day. Some who can't have children on their own, some that have been trying for years to become pregnant, or those who have babies in heaven, I hope that you felt special yesterday in some way and know that I was thinking of you!
I just wanted one photo with my little monkey, so I am glad he wasn't screaming or yelling during these. ;) He's pretty hard to herd lately..this boy is EVERYWHERE.
I can't believe he's getting so big! Time is flying..and I hate it! Must.have.more.babies.
Here's little man on Mother's Day last year:
off to cry now. There's no way he was ever that little!

My Sleeping Angel
Over the past several months, I have taken a photo of W when I go and check on him for the night. I never really thought about why I do it, except to come back and show hubby how stinkin' cute he is while he sleeps. Well i went through a few old photos and found these. Oh my goodness. My heart overflows with love for this little boy! I will share a few for your enjoyment. Really, what is cuter than a sleeping baby?
Disclaimer (mostly for my mother): YES i wash his sheets. But most of the time I put them right back on his crib instead of switching so that's why they all look like I have never taken his sheet off ;)

Dear Winslow
Goodness gracious, little boy! It's been a while since I've written you a letter. I have a good handful that I've never published here, but that means they'll be even more special to you when you are old enough to read them.
You are 20 months old. TWENTY months. How in the world did time fly so fast? I cannot believe you will be two years old soon. I want to cry, but I also beam at how big you are. You are smart as a whip And also hard headed too. I think you got that from me. It will come in handy though when you're older. :)
You're favorite thing to do right now are library time on Wednesdays. We go for 45 minutes and you play with the other toddlers and then sing songs for 10-15 minutes. You love the songs and the hand motions that we do. It's so funny to watch you because all the other babies are sitting in their mommas laps singing and you are right in the middle of the circle watching everyone. You won't sit in my lap, no sir. You have to be in the middle. It makes me smile because you'll go up to one of the other mommy's and smile so big and then run back to the middle of the circle. The teacher calls you Mr. Explorer because you never.sit.still. You always are looking for something to get into. (Like that sharpie marker you found in my purse last week!)
You also love cars. trucks. anything with wheels. You go to sleep with a car, eat breakfast with a car, and run errands with a car. You also make this "vroom vroom" sound everywhere you take it. You love driving the car over my head and in your food. sigh.
You still nap once a day for 1.5-2 hours. Sometimes longer but not that often. You wake up between 7:45-8:15 which is great. I am not complaining at all. You go to bed between 7:45-8:15 every night and don't make a peep until the next morning.
You constantly have bruises or scrapes on your little knees because you're always into something! You love the ocean and we try to make a beach trip every weekend.
I could not have dreamed up a more precious little boy if I tried. You are truly the apple of my eye, my little buddy, my best friend. I love spending my days with you and watching you learn and grow.
We have lots of traveling to do these next few months, including a trip to Texas, NC, Key West, and Orlando! You are still rear facing in your car seat and hope to stay that way until at least 2.5- it's so much safer for your little spine that isn't done growing together yet. Your favorite foods are cheese, corn, chick fil a nuggets, cereal, watermelon, mac and cheese, and green smoothies. You don't really like yogurt right now, or green beans.
I am so blessed to be your mommy and I just love you to pieces.
Love,
Mom
