I'm obsessed

I'm obsessed with gallery walls.  There, I said it.

I have one going up the stairs, in W's nursery, and now I have one above the couch.  You can't ever have too many pictures, if you ask me.  That's what makes a house a home, right?

Here's a before photo of what used to be above the couch.  I love this print, but it was time for a change.  I believe I got that at HomeGoods for $99. It's HUGE and beautiful.

And here's what I came up with after scrounging around the house for frames and other things.  The great thing is I didn't spend any money on making this, except for the frame for the big newborn photo of little W in the middle. Got that one for $12.99 from TJ Maxx.

 Winslow approves!

And here's our mantel with my new favorite family photo!
I love this photo and his sweet little smile!

Love at first sight

My dear friend Allie came for a visit today with her sweetest little babe, Savannah.  Our babies are only 9 days apart and boy are they cute together!  I loved getting to catch up with her and I just know they'll get married one day.  :)

At first, little W didn't like the idea of girls...

He thought they might have cooties...

But then he warmed up quick and decided to hold her hand.

And decided not to let go...he has a major crush on little miss Savannah. <3 br="">

I love our babies.  They are precious.

Five on Friday

Hey y'all!! Happy Friday!  This week flew by! The hubby and I are taking little W to the state fair today..or really we are going for us but we can say it's for him. ;)  He will more than likely sleep the whole time, but you better believe I'm gonna stuff myself full of fried oreos, fried pecan pie, and funnel cakes!

I'm linking up this week with the lovely ladies of Five on Friday.

1.  I've been making my Christmas list already and have a few things I hope to get.  One of them is am embroidery machine! If I would have had a girl first, this would have definitely been my push present, but I'm still going to go crazy with monogramming all of W's clothes and mine too! Who doesn't love monograms?!?  I want to monogram some pillows for my guestroom..look how pretty!

Speaking of Christmas, we have decided to do this tradition each year for ourselves and W.  Something you want, something to read, something to wear, and something you need.  I love this idea and it also helps with overbuying or purchasing things you don't think you'll really use.  Santa will still come visit, but from mom and dad, Winslow will get those four gifts.

2. If ANYONE knows where I can get polka-dotted tights from, please let me know! I've been looking and can't find any!

Aren't those the CUTEST?

3. I've been on the fence about dressing little one up for Halloween...he'll be 2.5 months and I don't know what to dress him up as..he's so little and the only reason I'll dress him up is really for me to take pictures, but for you momma who had little bitty ones, did you dress them up?   Got any ideas for me?

And i totally want to dress Darla up in this.... HAHA!

4. I bought these the other day and can't wait to get them. Free shipping for Target Redcard people is AMAZING! :)  And they are super cheap and have great reviews for comfort.  Now to find a cheetah scarf...

5. So I've just made the switch to bloglovin' and pretty much drool over it.  I love the ease it has to read blogs, and it's fun to find new ones to match your interests!  I had previously just been reading blogs through blogger, but this is way more fun.  You can follow me there, I'd love it if you do!

Happy Friday, lovelies!  Here's to a great weekend!

Kait

Wardrobe Wednesday

So, I've decided to compile a few things that I think would be super cute for my babe.  I may do this every Wednesday...I may not.  Just depends on if the babe says I can. ;)

Foxes on little boys kill me, in a good way.  I love them.  His nursery has a few foxes scattered around and I am hoping to get my hands on a few of these adorable outfits for him this year.

fox
Row One:  Old Navy, Gap, Target
Row Two:  Gyboree, Carters, Gap
Row Three:  Gymboree, Osh Kosh, Gymboree
Row Four: Target, 3 sprouts,  Skiphop

That fox lunchbox- Winslow NEEDS that when he goes to preschool. :)  In a few years...

Also, if you search FOXES on etsy, you will drool.  I want everything!

Happy Hump Day!

On being a mom.

I've been a mom for a little over two months.  You know what the NUMBER ONE thing I've learned is?

I am selfish.

I am selfish.

When a little baby's existence depends only on you, it's somewhat mind-blowing.  The things you must do in order to make sure his needs are met becomes a long list.  But I love it.

Motherhood is hard.  Whoever says it's not needs a good kick in the rear.  And the thing is, it'll only get harder.  My little man can't even say anything, he can't talk back, he can't tell me he hates me or that he won't do this or that..but it's still hard.

I am selfish. On days when I don't want to get out of bed to soothe him, on days when I don't feel like holding him while he sleeps, on days when he fights sleeps like it's his job, I am selfish.  I would rather be blogging, I would rather be at TJ Maxx trying on new boots for fall, I would rather be cooking up the latest recipe on Pinterest.

And then there are days when I'd rather be doing NOTHING else but holding him, or changing his diaper, or playing on the floor with him.

On the best of days and the worst though, I have learned how much I want it to be about me.

and it's not.

It's not only about W either, though.  It's about Christ.

How he gives us grace when I feel like the most horrible mom in the world.  He gives us grace when I snap at the husband for not getting out of bed quick enough to pick him up.  When I want to cry because he won't sleep and I'm exhausted and get irritable. I still have grace.

There is always grace to start over again.  I love that. It's such a beautiful picture of the cross and how Jesus showed grace to every single person. God's grace is with me every second of every day.

I will mess up.  I already have. But I will also do great.  Remembering that is so important.

Motherhood is more than making sure he gets fed or changed or making sure he met this milestone on this day.  It's about finding the strength that you didn't know you had, it's about relying on God like you never thought possible, it's about trusting your intuition and instincts.

On the hardest days, I'd not trade it for the world.  And I'm so thankful for this thing called grace.

because man do I need it.

Happy Birthday Darla Dog!

Our sweet little pup turned 8 years old this past weekend!! We adopted her from a family off of Craigslist (she cost a whopping 40 dollars) and they had been neglecting her very badly.  She came to us with a horrible flea infestation, the mange, and was severly overweight due to poor diet.  She also has no front teeth except her canines.

We got her a little over a year ago and she is the best pup we've ever had!  We love her so very much and even though she annoys the heck out of me sometimes (she follows me EVERYWHERE and has separation anxiety..like I can't even close my closet door without her crying) She is going to be the best puppy for little Winslow to grow up with.

We love Darla!

I made her some homemade Frosty Paws which is super easy-dogs love them, especially in the summer.

1 banana
1 container of vanilla yogurt
1-2 tbs honey
1-2 spoonfuls of peanut butter

Just mix it all together and freeze for a few hours.  It's her favorite snack.

Dogs are part of our family..anyone else feel the same?  :)  I'm thinking we may get Winslow a puppy for his first birthday. Maybe a fluffy baby Golden.  Darla needs a friend and it may help with the baby fever I know I'll have by then.. hehehe!

Love,

Kait
