Easter Egg Hunt

Would you look at that chubby little bunny?!?!  Oh my goodness, it makes my heart hurt with how big he has gotten since then.

Let's fast forward one year from then...19 months old, rambunctious, ALWAYS on the go toddler.  Do you think he wil wear bunny ears and smile for the camera?

In my dreams.

So here's this years' Easter photos...we went to an Easter Egg hunt on Saturday and it was the coldest day of the year! Like 60 degrees! We even had to wear long sleeves.  Hashtag life is tough in Florida.

Cutest boy ever.

He was more interested in the playground than really hunting the eggs.  I mean, why would you put an Easter Egg Hunt inside a playground?  Just my two cents.  Also, the little 5 year old girls kept stealing eggs from his basket.  Mama Bear almost had to speak up.

Ain't nobody take eggs from my baby.

And yes, I ate all his Easter candy.  For what it's worth, it was hard candy that he can't have yet. ;)

Stitch Fix #11

You tired of another Stitch Fix post?  Ha, I have another fix coming next week, so I hope not!  I also have been pre-scheduling my posts, so I bet you'll be seeing more from me now.  Does that make you happy!? ;)   I used to be good at time management, but once a kid came around....naptime means Binge Watching Netflix, cleaning, or just collapsing on the couch.

What is Stitch Fix? Stitch Fix is an online personal stylist-
You create an online profile.
You get five hand picked items.
Keep what you love, send back what you don't..
You sign up here and pay $20 a month to have someone pick out five pieces of clothing for you that gets mailed to your door!  The bonus is if you keep any items, you get to put the $20 styling fee towards your clothing.

You can pick your price points (I chose "The cheapest option" and then they'll send you items for you to try on at home, and you return them in three days(in a prepaid envelope).  If you like all the items, you can get  25% your whole order!

Here's what I got in my 11th box!

1.  Lizza Split Neck Blouse by Creative Commune

I actually requested one very similar to this except it had turquoise trim.  This one was super duper cute and I was SO close to keeping it.  It was a tiny bit too big for me and after consulting my mom, my cousin, and hubby...i didn't keep it.  My stylist reccomended I wear this with Chuck Taylor's, which would have been super cute.  But oh well.  RETURNED

2. McCarthy Cutout Detail Blouse by Pixley

This top was also LOVE for me.  The color, the matierial, the detail.  I love everything about it.  But...for some reason I sent it back. ha, don't you love it when you kind of wish you hadn't returned something?  Or is that just me that will have a full cart of clothes/shoes/etc and then talk myself out of every single item...

Anyway, the reason I didn't keep this is because 1)It was just a plain color 2) I would have to wear a strapless bra every single time.  #aintnobodygottimeforthat
I hate wearing strapless bras.  So there.   RETURNED

3. Floria Split Back Knit Top by Papermoon

Hubby loved this top.  Me, not so much.  I don't care for split back pieces and the fabric was that really soft stuff that will get pulls easily. (I don't know the exact name for it). So this was definately not my favorite.  RETURNED

4.Llana Polka Dot Dress by Leota

Loved this pattern.  I am a complete sucker for polka dots.  I also loved the color.  I did not, however, love the fabric.  It was pretty clingy, as you can see my backfat in the last photo. haha!  And I didn't like feeling like I had to suck in 24/7 because of my baby pooch.  Have i mentioned how much your body changes after you birth a child?  Worth it though :)  RETURNED

5. Lex Textured Floral Knit Fit and Flare Dress by Brixon Ivy

Now this.  This dress was instant love.  It's textured, which is a plus.  It's blue, which is my favorite color to wear.  It's a fit and flare which makes me want to twirl around (see photo above), and it's SUPER comfy to wear out and about with my wild monkey child.  I wore it to church last week and got a few compliments on it! You can also dress it down with a jean jacket (Perhaps the same one I've had since 9th grade? Sure!)  So I bet you can guess that this one went in my closet. KEPT

See anything you loved? Want to sign up?  If you click here and sign up under my name, I'll get a small credit towards my next fix.  Thanks for buying me clothes!

FACELIFT

Wow, right?

My blog got a NEW NAME and a facelift!

I've been toying with the idea for a while of getting a new name. I have been Mrs. DIY and the tennis guy since I started this blog, in 2010!  However, I am not much of a DIYer anymore (well, I am, but I never blog about it).  And let's face it.  This is mostly about my kid.  He takes the spotlight.

And this is a place for me to journal.  To write down my thoughts, my dreams, my bad days and good.  I am not blogging for fame, for comments, or for recognition.  I tell my story so I can re-read it in the future. So my kids can read it one day.  So my family can read it.  So that's how I came up with "The Jones Journal".

I am still Mrs DIY, but my blog just has a new name. ;)

Hope you like it!

**Some small changes are still taking place, so thank you for bearing with me.*

Stitch Fix #10

I have two Stitch Fix reviews to do until I am caught up.  These next two do not have me modeling the items, sadly.  I was pregnant at the time, and puking my brains up 24/7.  So I didn't exactly look or feel like taking photos.  Sorry.  I did take photos of the pieces though and so I hope you still enjoy!  I know you wanted to see my gorgeous self, but you'll have to wait. HA

What's Stich Fix, if you're new around here?

Here is what was in my 10th box!

1.  Zena Knit Top by Gentle Fawn

This was not impressive from the box, but was quite the opposite when I put it on.  Super soft material and really long.  I like long.  It is like a dressed up T shirt...but I didn't want to spend $40+ on it, so I didn't keep it.  RETURNED

2.  Renesme Floral Print Dress by Brixon Ivy

I love florals so I was excited when I saw this.  I really really almost kept this dress, but hubby told me it looked too much like grandma's table cloth/curtains.  sigh.   It was very cute, but when I looked at it a lot, I realized hubby might have a point.  RETURNED

3.  Aleah Heathered V-Neck Dolman Top

In my very first fix, I received a dolman top.  I had always said they were not cute, but when I got that one, I changed my mind.  Seriously, I know I have worn that thing over 100 times.  So I LOVED this one when I saw it. The color is really in style this year, and the softness is unparallelled.  YUM.  KEPT.

4.  Yaiza Printed Wrap Dress by Pixley

This dress was just okay for me.  I love wrap dresses, but the fabric was too clingy for my hips and the V neck was too low for me, which means I would have to wear a camisole every time underneath.  Just wasn't a fan of this dress.  RETURNED.

5.  Leighton Metal Bauble Necklace by Bancroft

I have 3 bauble necklaces, and although they are not gold, I still have three.  So just for that reason, I didn't keep this.  It was super pretty though.  RETURNED.

So overall, this might have been my least favorite box I've gotten, but that still won't make me unsubsribe! I love Stitch Fix.  Want to sign up?

Go here!

What do you think?  Did you love any of them?

Things I don't want to forget...

Since I don't do monthly updates anymore about our little crazy man, I have decided to do posts every now and then about things that W does that I never want to forget.

Like how he climbs on the kitchen table EVERY day.  He is so proud of himself when he gets up there...but gets real mad when I say "No sir" and set him down.

Or when I'll say "Laugh Winslow!" and he will throw his head back and do this fake laugh.  It's so cute.  He does it to strangers too when we are walking by them in Target or if we are eating dinner at Chick-fil-a.

He also scrunches his nose like this when I say "smell the flowers".  This is also his "I am being a goofball" face.

When he sees a slice of cheese he will say "CHHHHHHHH"  over and over and will sign "more" to get a bite.

He will not let me take a photo with him.  As soon as I pick him up, he turns into a wet cat and wants down.  Yeah, he will NOT sit still. His little mind races every second of the day.  What can he get in to next.

This picture was taken right after I had spun him around three times really quick to make him smile. ha!

He is now a big cuddle bug.  It is heaven.  He lays all over us in the morning and will lay his head on us and give us kisses.  <3 p="">
In the morning, he will sit up in his crib and lay there saying "da da da" or "mama" until I come and get him.  Then when he sees me, he runs around in laps in his crib.

He hates getting his teeth brushed. sigh.

We just taught him how to give eskimo kisses.  Oh my.  It's pretty much the cutest sight you'll ever see.

When he steps up on a curb or a stair, he will make this big "grunt" that is exageratted a lot.  Or if he sits down he does the same thing.

At our weekly playdate, if you want a snack, you have to sit on the designated black mat to eat it.  So Winslow will run up to the animal cracker tub, point and sign "more" and then run and sit on the black mat.  All without me telling him.  Oh so cute.

He also loves Elmo and anytime he sees him he will say "bababababa".  We are working on the EL-MO word.

Man i wish I could recall them all, because there are a million little things that I love about this boy.  but those will do for now. :)

He is the light of my life.

Though You slay me

Can I just say THANK YOU so very much for every single text, phone call, facebook message, or comment on my blog that I have received from my post earlier.  It means so much to me and I have found great comfort in your stories and words.

We are doing good.

It still hits me hard some days.  Randomly, it will hit me.  in the car.  at breakfast.  when i see someone pregnant in Target.  when I see a pregnancy announcement.  But you know what?  I'm okay.  I am clinging to the only solid truth I know. God is enough for me.  He is enough to lift me from this.

I heard a song this week that has been on REPEAT for me.  It's made me sob.  It's made me praise.  It's made me smile.  Have you heard of the song-writers, Shane and Shane?  They are incredible. I saw them in concert a few times while I was in college at Texas A&M and this song just popped up on a friend's facebook wall.    John Piper did a collaboration with them on this song and spoke a little from one of his messages titled "Do Not Lose Heart".  Read these words.

They are so true in my life right now.

[Not only is all your affliction momentary, not only is all your affliction light in comparison to eternity and the glory there. But all of it is totally meaningful. Every millisecond of your pain, from the fallen nature or fallen man, every millisecond of your misery in the path of obedience is producing a peculiar glory you will get because of that.

I don’t care if it was cancer or criticism. I don’t care if it was slander or sickness. It wasn’t meaningless. It’s doing something! It’s not meaningless. Of course you can’t see what it’s doing. Don’t look to what is seen.

When your mom dies, when your kid dies, when you’ve got cancer at 40, when a car careens into the sidewalk and takes her out, don’t say, “That’s meaningless!” It’s not. It’s working for you an eternal weight of glory.

Therefore, therefore, do not lose heart. But take these truths and day by day focus on them. Preach them to yourself every morning. Get alone with God and preach his word into your mind until your heart sings with confidence that you are new and cared for.]

EVERY millisecond of my pain is producing a glory.  Man, that's so comforting to know MY story will be glorified.

It doesn't necessarily take away my hurt, but it softens it.

Please listen to this song.  I hope it speaks to you as it did me.  Even if you aren't going through the same as me, it's such a beautiful redemption song.

If you can't view it well below, click this link.

I am going to share a part of an email that a dear friend wrote to me.  It made me cry, but it also comforted me in a way that I needed so badly.

"  one child will always live in your heart.  you will always see him, or her, at random times in random places.  you will always remember dates and feelings and memories.  You will always wish for them, but you will not always hurt.  you have a baby in Heaven, already with God, and you and Seth will be with that child, and Winslow and any others, for all of eternity.  do not let anyone or anything minimize your pain, your loss, and later, your joy in this child.  do not force yourself to do so either. "

this was so helpful to me.  I felt that my miscarriage was such an "invisible loss" that no one really could sympathize with me about.  No one knew or saw the baby, but it was still such a REAL loss for our family.  and I'm not going to let anyone make me feel like it was less than that.

Again, thank you for the sweet words and prayers. Having little W running around and climbing on the kitchen table also lessens the pain when I look and see that I have the most perfect little boy to call my own.  <3 br="" nbsp="">

Stitchfix #9

I am THREE months behind on Stitch Fix posts.  But now that you know why, I'm sure you'll let it slide.

I love Stitch Fix and am so excited every single month it shows up at my door. Even though I haven't kept all 5 items yet, I usually keep one or two and I promise I wear those more than anything in my closet! The quality is superb.

What's Stich Fix, if you're new around here?

Stitch Fix is an online personal stylist-
You create an online profile.
You get five hand picked items.
Keep what you love, send back what you don't.. You sign up here and pay $20 a month to have someone pick out five pieces of clothing for you that gets mailed to your door!  The bonus is if you keep any items, you get to put the $20 styling fee towards your clothing.

You can pick your price points (I chose "The cheapest option" and then they'll send you items for you to try on at home, and you return them in three days(in a prepaid envelope).  If you like all the items, you can get  25% your whole order!

Here's what was in my 9th box!

1. Molly V-Neck Sweater by B_Envied

This was just okay for me.  It was comfy but just wasn't a huge fan.  It is black and white speckled which I liked, and "holey" for lack of a better word, but the sleeves were baggy under the arms and so I didn't keep it.  RETURNED

2.  McQue Solid Lace Sleeve Blouse by 41Hawthorn

This was super soft and gorgeous on.  I love lace and so this was a plus for me.  The price of $48 is okay, but I decided not to keep it because I have a ton of blue blouses.  And I wanted something I could wear with jean shorts/ more casual clothing for spring and summer.  RETURNED

3.  Nat Embellished Neckline Blouse by Skies are Blue

This top I didn't love when i saw it in the box, but once I tried it on, I felt differently about it.  The neckline is so pretty and sparkly (which I love) and the "stripes" down the front add a very elegant touch as well.  The short sleeves are split so it makes it a little more flowy and feminine.  I loved this top because I don't have anything like it in my closet and I don't ever wear green.  So i kept it!  KEPT

4.  Layla Striped Elbow Patch Detail Cardigan by Honey Punch

I didn't have the right undershirt for this top, but Winslow was running around like a banshee and the sun was going down.. so I dealt with it.  Now, I have a million cardigans so I honestly wasn't excited about that.  But I don't have any with stripes and I am a big sucker for elbow patches.  That's all.  KEPT

5.  Nasima Lace Panel 3/4 Sleeve Blouse by Renee C.

There's that lace again.  My stylist knows me so well.  I freaking love lace.  However, I didn't end up keeping this just because it's black and I have WAY to many black shirts.  I requested some fun patterns next because I don't want anymore solid tops right now.  RETURNED

Overall, this was a great box.  I liked all the items for different reasons but ended up keeping two.

If you would like to sign up for Stitch Fix, click here! Next month will be my 12th box! I've been subscribing for a whole year and I. LOVE. It.  Yes, it's a little more pricey than Target or TJMaxx, but the quality is so much better and you can't find some of these items elsewhere. Worth it to me to have some awesome pieces in your wardrobe.

If you sign up under my link, I'll get a credit towards my next box and you can share your link to get credit too.  :)

So did you like anything?  Tell me your favorites!
