What if...?

Helllooo everyone!  I completely forgot to share my CVS trip for the week...

I got an Oral B rechargable toothbrush worth $38.99 for $3.25, and the Neutrogena Split End Mender worth $7.50, Schick Hydro razor refills worth $9.99, and 2 Nivea For Men body washes worth $10 all for .75 cents.  Yipee!  So, my total before coupons and sales was around $66 and I got it all for $4.00.  By the way, that toothbrush works REALLY well.  It came with an extra brusher part and so Seth and I both use it.  It also has a timer on it.  Pretty Cool!

Some Christmas presents came in the mail today!  I am really really trying to get it all done ASAP because then I won't have to worry about it at all.  I like to be on top of things.

So, recently Seth and I have been talking about the adjustments we've had to make with life after college and such. Here is something we both agree on:

We miss the college life.  Now, don't get us wrong: We LOVE being married, but the carefreeness (is that a word?) of college is missed.  We miss staying up until 3am with friends, realizing that the only thing you have to worry about are tests, and the football games every weekend.  We sometimes talk about what life would look like for us if we hadn't met.  It's pretty weird to think about.

Seth would more than likely either gone back home for a little bit and worked or gone straight to law school.  

I would be in Texas in graduate school at either Texas A&M or UT. Wild!  

But, we are married and living in a great home on the lake.  :)  I think I like this choice better.  

Oh yes, some exciting news is right around the corner! My sweet cousin, Halley (she was in my wedding)  is about to have her little baby boy!  She had a "trial run" yesterday when she thought her water broke, but instead it was a leak from her placenta (sorry if that's TMI) but everything is fine, baby Kie is doing great, and she is just waiting until her contractions get closer together until she heads back to the hospital.  He isn't technically due until mid-November, but he's already 6lbs 5oz and there is a full moon tomorrow night!  I think he will come tomorrow.  I am so excited and can't wait to see his sweet little face.  She is going to be such a great mommy. Look how PRECIOUS she is as a pregnant woman. Oh yes, and her sweet hubby is presh too. ;)

Tomorrow I am helping my boss (Jill) with her garage sell.  If you know me, you know i LOVE garage sells.  That is one thing I don't mind waking up for on a Saturday morning.  Seth is still feeling sickly, he missed work again today.  He has to work tomorrow morning at 5am though, and I hope he'll feel okay.  After work, we are going to the movie (if he feels up to it) to see the movie about facebook.  I think it's called Social Network. 

I found this on someone else's blog and thought I'd fill it out.  You're supposed to "tag" other bloggers, but I am not going to. If you have a blog and want to do it, feel free.  

 1. Favorite Flower: PEONIES all day long.  But they are apparently really hard to find, so I also love hydrangeas and gardenias (they smell divine)...

2.Favorite Color Combination: Right now I am in love with the color mustard yellow..and some turquoise would be great with that too.

3.Favorite Celebrity Couple: The Situation and Karina Smirnoff (NOT!) If you watch Dancing with the Stars, you'd understand.  I always admire Faith Hill and Tim Mcgraw for keeping their marriage strong and out of the press as much as possible.

4. Your theme song: Hmm..you know, I have no idea.  I will have to think about this one.
5. Favorite "I had a bad day" food:

The blueberry cake donuts from Krispy Kreme.  I could eat 27000 of those suckers.  Also, chocolate croissants from France. ha!  AND  cookie dough.  AND Lindt Truffles..goodness, i sound like a fatty.  But i do have a serious sweet tooth.


6.Lipstick or lipgloss...if you've forgotton how I feel about lipstick, go here.  I love lipgloss and lipstick actually.  My current fave:

Mac Lipglass.  I got this for my wedding, and still haven't run out of it.  It's really great.

7.Favorite Magazine..I have a little secret.  I subscribe to a handful of magazines.  BUT, I get them for REALLY inexpensive.  You see, there is this website that I love..called Frugal Coupon Living (check it out sometime) and they sometimes post deals on the web about magazine sales.  I get Southern Living magazine for 2 years for $10.  I get Weight Watchers magazine at $3.75 for one year. I  get All You (It's a magazine full of coupons) for $10 a year. I get Better Homes and Gardens at $3.75 for one year. CRAZY, I know!  But, my favorite magazine is Southern Living. It makes me feel like a young southern woman full of class when I see it come in the mail. hehe

8.Favorite thing about Fall..cooking with PUMPKIN! Or decorating for fall.  Or making homemade potpourri.  Or turning off the air condition and opening the windows.  I love EVERYTHING about Fall.  


I'm off to watch the Rangers/ Yankees game!  

I robbed CVS and Rite Aid...

Well guys, I should go to jail.

Just kidding.

But I did do some shopping at CVS and Rite Aid today and saved a TON of money.  I call it robbing even though I did pay for the items.. haha.

Here's what I purchased today:

I spent a total of $2.07

No, I am not kidding!  I was so excited to get some much needed things such as "girl supplies", TWO Purex 3-in-1 laundry soaps (which by the way, I LOVE using those!) and toothpaste.  We already have five or six tubes stored away but I am so excited to put them in our Operation Christmas Child Boxes we will make soon.

Speaking of Operation Christmas Child, this Christmas marks one year since we adopted our first child.  Instead of giving each other Christmas presents, we chose to adopt (or sponser) a child from Compassion International.

Everyone,  meet Ronald Alexander Rodriguez Solorzano:

He is six years old, and such a precious little boy.  I am so glad we decided to sponsor him.  He sends us letters that are extremely sweet and draws us pictures.  The other day, I sent him a few photos of us and Penny.  I hope he likes them.  This year, we are getting each other a small gift and then donating what we would've spent to Compassion so they can give Christmas gifts to Ronald and all his friends!

For those of you wondering about the status of Seth's LSAT, he took the test Saturday! He feels pretty good about it, but won't know his score until November.  Let's hope and pray it's a great score-I know he is capable of getting an awesome one.

I woke up early Saturday morning to make him cinnamon rolls before he left.  I surprised him with a good luck poster, some tennis balls and a card.  Take a look:

That plastic baggy contained his LSAT ticket, four number 2 pencils, a pink eraser, kleenex, some tylenol, and some anti-diarrhea meds (ha!).  My cute hubby is always prepared.

After he took the LSAT, we went to the yummiest restaurant ever.  We haven't gone out to a really nice place since we've been married (and off of our parents' dime..haha) so it was such a great experience to get dressed up and dine on some fine cuisine.  This place was really one of the best places we've ever been. For those of you ever visiting the Charlotte area, Go To 131 MAIN.  (That's the name of the restaurant).

This morning Seth and I both decided to not attend Church (GASP!) and instead we slept in.  It felt SO SO good.  We've been pretty lazy this whole day...i mean, i cleaned our room, made a trip to CVS and Rite Aid, and we took Penny to the dog park..but other than that, we've done nothing.


And it felt great.

Oh yeah, speaking of CVS ( once again), I went a couple days ago and got some more laundry detergant for $2!!!!   I had a $3 off coupon and a raincheck for Wisk B1G1.  It was one sale last week for $4.99 a bottle and so I got two and used that Q and it was 2 dollars for both!  Ahh, i love saving money.

MORE FALL DECOR!!!!  I cannot get enough...i love fall. 

 This is outside of our front door.  I got the chair from a garage sell for $1, painted the pumkin and spray painted an old basket that the smaller mum is in.  I love mums...they make me happy.

 Such a lovely fall kitchen towel, don't you think?  :)

 I mod podged a mason jar I got for 50 cents with raffia and put little sunflower looking things in it. It looks way better in person.

 These M&Ms were gone in thirty minutes, and no we didn't have little kiddos eating them...but i love the colors..

Oh, the places we go!

This past week found Kait and I in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Let me tell you: driving along the coast in a topless Jeep is an unparalleled experience as far as automobiling goes. We drove down last weekend to meet my family and a couple of Logan's friends, along with Logan's dash-hound Sadie. We, of course, dragged Penny along (although it is becoming evident that she enjoys, or at least is tolerant of, car rides).

After a week in the sun with minimal burning, we trekked halfway across Carolina to Charlotte for our third wedding this Spring/Summer (excluding our own). Our good friends Allen and Alli got hitched at Cedar Wood Country Club. I felt honored because Allen had asked me to do a reading for the ceremony, as he believes I had the voice for it. It was great being a part of such a beautiful event.



The ceremony was followed by a incredibly fun reception. I got to see all of my guys and share a few dances with my wife. Kait fully enjoyed herself, hardly leaving the dance floor at all.

We got back to Athens tonight and found out that Huey Cat transferred his fleas into the carpet upstairs. So...we left again, but only for a couple of hours. Just enough time for the Hot Shot Fogger Bomb we set off upstairs to kill the insects. Hopefully this will be the last of our pest problems. I'm starting to feel like we're paying a little more than necessary to live in a place with bugs. I guess that's the "charm" everyone talks about when discussing their first home as a newlywed.

Not really sure what will come next. I'd like to think it will be a phone call with a job offer (or at least an interview!!).

Kait here! As Seth said above, we had a great week with his family hanging out at the beach. Penny loved the sand and water and it was fun to watch her romp around in the sand. We ate tons of great food, stayed up late, and slept in...it can't get much better than that!

Allen and Alli's wedding was so much fun- I danced the night away with my gals, and Seth and his beaus had a time watching us. haha.


Even though we have done TONS of traveling this summer (I put over 3000 miles on my car in one month), I have enjoyed getting to see all of my friends every three weeks. I am sad now that we won't be going to anymore weddings!

It feels good to finally be able to live in our home though..we've been gone so much that we haven't been able to enjoy it! We have no other plans for the summer, except maybe one trip to Charlotte for me to visit a sweet, sweet friend, and a visit from my momma! We're going to the Atlanta aquarium and a Braves game!

In case you're wondering if I am excited about starting graduate school..i am not. No part of me gets excited so now you don't have to ask me or sit at home wondering if I am excited! :) Hopefully once school starts I will gain more enthusiasm, but until then I would rather be working or going to thrift stores and finding stuff to refurbish. It's a new hobby of mine...making old furniture look like it came from Pottery Barn..except the cost is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. It's great.

Speaking of saving money...for those of you who don't know..my "nickname" is Coupon Queen. Yes, I get a paper every sunday. Yes, I have a big ol binder for my coupons. Yes, I spend hours each week planning my shopping trips. Yes, I am a nerd.

My YTD savings at CVS is $478.71 and my Summer 2010 Spending is 5.38. :) It feels good to be saving that much money!!
